๐ก๏ธ Rogue and Hack
14 October 2026. Two dungeons, shipped the same day, on purpose. One of them ends. The other keeps the stairs going.
๐ก๏ธ Rogue
A small homage to the 1980 game. One room, a wall around it, you as ๐ง.
The monsters are a kobold ๐บ, an orc ๐น, a zombie ๐ง, and a dragon ๐. Deeper floors hold more of them, and the harder ones start to show up. Walk into a monster and you hit it. Stand next to one and it hits you back. Gold ๐ฐ adds to the purse when you step on it. A potion ๐งช goes into your pack. Press Q to drink one and heal.
Every floor through the fifth has stairs ๐ฝ. Step on them. Floor six has no stairs. It has the amulet ๐. Pick it up and the run is over. You won.
Arrows or WASD to move. R starts a new run from floor one, including after you die. Hit points start at 12. There is no save. A dead run is a dead run.
๐ก๏ธ Hack
Closer to the original shape. Rooms carved out of rock, corridors between them, stairs up โฌ๏ธ and stairs down โฌ๏ธ.
Monsters are letters of a bestiary, drawn as pictures: ant, bat, centipede, dragon, floating eye, fungus, gnome, hobbit, imp, jackal, kobold, leprechaun. Deeper floors add more of them, and the ones that spawn hit harder and last longer. They walk toward you. If they reach you, they swing.
The floor also holds daggers, short swords, leather and chain, potions of healing, scrolls, and gold. Step on a thing and it goes into your pack. I prints the pack. Weapons add to what you hit for. Your strength starts at 16, your hit points at 20.
Move with the arrows, with WASD, or with the vi keys, diagonals included: y u b n, and q e z c. ? prints the reminder. R, or Enter on the death screen, starts again.
The win screen is written for the Amulet of Yendor. The dungeon you can walk today does not place one. The stairs keep going, and the question the game actually asks is whether you are still alive when you decide to stop.
